Happy Hoodie Baby Sweater

Recently my SIL gave birth to a baby and i wanted to gift a sweater and so checked on sm patterns i had frm "Cute crochet for tiny tots"by Helen Ardley..my sis had gt it for me....

I wanted to do a hooded one , n so tis pattern lukd apt ....bt i was really tensed ifi cud finish off with te exixting wool i had ...bt luckily i found a local yarn shop here n the blue thread which i wanted.....

Along with the sweater i send an afghan which i had already made before for my son, with the same colur combi...both went perfectly togther ...had posted the afghan pics bfore....Here is the link..http://ashes-in-the-rain.blogspot.com/2010/08/my-baby-afghan-ready.html

AND here is a pic of what i sent for the baby....

Basically its all single crochet throuhout and the stripes was what attracted me to try it out....The pattern used white n red stipes which ws very gud,, bt i had tse colours oly of baby wools....
And i was fascinated wit te hood too coz havent tried anything wit a hood till now n to my surprise , tat was te easiest part....

Heres a closer look...

Baby cloth edging #3

This edging is worked by a thicker thread and a bigger hook.
The pattern is actually a picot bt aftr doin the 1st round ,
i felt just that was better and din quite like the luk of picot.
SO stopped with the first round. I saw this pattern while searchin in google.
don remmbr frm wre i gt this exactly.

Neways heres the pattern:

Row 1: In 4th ch from hook make dc, ch 2, dc * skip ch, in next ch make dc, ch 2, dc. Repeat from * to end. Ch 3, turn.

Row 2: * 4 sc in ch 2 space, picot. Repeat from * to end. Fasten off

Bt i did just the first rnd.
And added the yellow satin thru the blanket stitches!

Baby cloth edging #2

This is the second cloth edging....worked wit a multicolour

Thread :size 10
Hook :size 4.
Pattern : SC around, Then in 1st SC * {(make 1 TRC,1 Ch )6 times,1 TRC, skip 2 sc make sc in 3rd sc}*. repeat from * to * throughout.slipstich to join.

If u guys remember, the thread is the same as this DOILY which i had been making.
Then i gt bored with the doily, and pulled bak the thread....and used it for this edging...had to buy an extra roll for this tho..
I realize how easy it is to pull the thread and squander all the tedious work done.. guess tat is the difference b/w make and break.....takes a second to let go, while it takes hours or years to make it!..be it crochet or anythin!
hmm...crochet is makin me wiser ..hee hee...and teaching me patience too!!!

Baby cloth edging #1

Had kept a couple of baby cloths ready and given it for sewing the sides...now tat i gt them bak , i was thiking of adding crochet edgings to each of them....donno how many i wud be able to complete as the time is less....bt this ones my first edging .Its just double crochet across the cloth , and i just added a satin ribbon in bet the hemstitches for a dressy and a more neat luk.

Have used THIS technique of Teresa to add the edging to the fabric....its a bit of a tedious work i feel.....
am working on the next baby cloth, ..wil post it soon

Small Sandals for the tiny one!

I did this from the same book of Lesley's. Really luv the luk of these sandals....Vry chic!
This wud fit a baby of 6-9 months i guess...
I used two cotton threads together (green n yellow), and did the edging with the single thread(green).I finally learned te crab stitch online n did it for te edging.

Sea boot bootees all set to wear!

This socks is something which after finishing , gave me a great great sense of achievement...tats becoz i hv tried almost 1 whole week trying to figure out the pattern instructions.....
finally i discovered the secret....the designer kept on writing double crochet but what she meant was attually a single crochet!!!!! phew.....wasnt tat a discovery!
i guess in sm parts of the world, yrh is not done bfor inserting thru the stitch....i hv seen couple of video instructions lik tat for dc bfore too..
anyways in te beginning of the book she had clearly shown what she meant by dc, just tat i missed reading tat.....

Neways, i now have a matching bootees for my sweater!!

this pattern is from the book i got--"Adorable crochet for babies and toddlers" by Lesley Stanfield
The paaterns in this range from simple to the more ambitious

Baby sweater!!

Here is the pic of the Baby sweater I completed yest.
Its cald "Ombre waves" . U can find the pattern in Crochet Magazine , Oct 2005,Vol 23.
The texture of the sweatr luks really beautiful , mayb coz of the wavy pattern. Its worked simply on alternating sc and dc.

It wud fit a baby of 9-12 months..... i used a G hook and Lion Brand Baby soft yarn.
I am really happy with the ribbing at the edges coz it tuk me sm time to grasp it bt then it came out quite well...n now since i hv mastered it ...i can use it for any garment.

It wudnt take two whole weeks to complete the sweater i am sure...Its just tat I gt occupied wit Jovia's dress for sm time, tat i lost a bit of my intreat in tis one :)

One shud complete this in not more than 1 week i guess...provided u don't cook, watch television or go out , AND waste time oly for eating and sleeping ..

dedicating the rest of the time to finishing off Ombre waves...hee hee!

And I got the pattern from Ravelry.. It's called Easter Grace Dress pattern. U can c it here
I feel i hv made a couple of mistakes in the pattern , small small ones...but it came out quite well finally.. hee hee
Actually in the pattern u will c a peach n white combination... but wen me n my mom went yarn shopping for the same..she suggested to make in this particular combination n i am glad i did it :)

Baby caps

I finished crocheting my baby caps....actually i wanted to make oly one for my friends baby....Baby Mysa. (Mysa means "smile").

But my dimensions got wrong. n instead of making a cap for a 9 month old , i made it for a just born ..hee hee..well , blunders of a beginner crocheter!!!!

The yarn is very beautiful.... i cudn resist making a cool belt for myself too....i am done with it but have to stitch on the buckles...then wil post it.

i cant wait to present the baby cap to lill Mysa.. :) hope she likes it!!!!
